Blog Team

Zahra Hussein

As one of the editors for the Roundhouse Blog, Zahra looks forward to applying her skills for spotting misspelled words, grammatical errors, and illogical flow to promote and educate the public about the arts and cultural events taking place in our community. She hopes to highlight the talented and creative people that make Vancouver a vibrant city.

Roma Ilnyckyj

Roma began her career as a teacher, receiving an MA in language education at UBC and working with English language learners in Vancouver and China. After a couple of years in education, she decided to pursue her love for language in the world of writing and editing instead, and she took courses in the Print Futures: Professional Writing program at Douglas College. Roma was the Roundhouse communications intern in the summer of 2013, and she stayed on as a volunteer editor for the blog team as a way to stay connected with the centre.

Professionally, Roma splits her time between working as an editorial assistant for Talk Science To Me, a Vancouver-based science communications firm, and doing search engine optimization.

She also writes for the Esperanza Education blog as a way to keep one toe in the education world and keep her writing skills sharp. Roma is originally from Calgary but loves Vancouver and plans to make it her permanent home—with plenty of trips back to China and beyond.
