Graffiti Therapy

Graffiti Therapy

Artist Statement

My art is a combination of my two favourite art forms – First Nations art and graffiti. By painting clothing such as hoodies and shoes, I bring together the worlds of the retail industry and the immense graffiti scene in this city. With such a thriving and prosperous retail industry, I think the arts scene is sometimes forgotten or overlooked, especially graffiti. I’ve painted these everyday clothing items to re-emphasize the close relationship of these two worlds which sometimes seem different but are very much alike. I hope the viewers will come away with a more appreciative look at graffiti art next time they see it and also look at the artistic side of Vancouver’s retail industry.
