Event Details

Viven Chen was born in Hong Kong. She used her first Nikomat camera after school and then studied photography while she was in high school, eventually turning her bathroom into a darkroom. She further studied art in Bishop Bianchi College and graduated from Hong Kong Polytechnic University with a degree in Communication Art and Fine Art (sculpture as major).

As a Graphics designer in her early age, she has been involved in commercial photography and her art has been exhibited in city halls, museums and galleries in Asia, Canada, USA and Europe. She has travelled extensively, gaining exposure to different cultures, emotions and feelings that she conveys in her art. For further information about the artist, please visit vivendesign.com

Viven navigates between sculpture and photography seeing the sculptural aspect of a subject and tries to convey that through her art. She shares her concern for the environment in her photographs, layer on layer, pixel on pixel.

Themes of nature and climate, sky and reflection, tradition and technology exist in her work. These images have been shot in the same location with weather affecting each image; each image looks different and colorful as though the environment is adding special effects. Nature is all they needed!
