A Roundhouse partnership
The annual Talking Stick Festival treats Vancouver to an 11-day, city-wide, one-of-a-kind celebration of Aboriginal performance and art. Turtle Island’s premiere multi-disciplinary Aboriginal arts festival is known for featuring both nationally and internationally acclaimed Aboriginal artists, as well as those on the rise. The 2017 festival will feature crowd favourites alongside fresh new programming. Don’t miss the ever popular WaX Hoks En Shqulawin (Open Your Hearts) Opening Gala which kicks off the festivities and includes music, dancing, and feasting. The following 10 days are full of the best the Aboriginal arts have to offer, including contemporary Aboriginal dance, a celebration of powwow culture, the Aboriginal artisan fair, live theatre, performances for young audiences, slam poetry, and a visual arts exhibition. The festival also boasts eclectic musical acts and offers an assortment of workshops, artist talks, and panel discussions, as well as an industry series for arts professionals. Explore Aboriginal culture through the arts.
