Join the Board of Directors

The Roundhouse Community Arts & Recreation Centre is seeking volunteers to be part of the Board of Directors.

SPECIFIC SKILLS
Human Resources; Community Development; Accounting; Organizational Planning; Programming, Social Service; Finance; Fundraising; Communications, Facilities Design & Operations.
Board meetings will occur monthly.
Board members must have the ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, using computer and telephone

DESCRIPTION
The Roundhouse Community Arts & Recreation Centre offers a range of programs designed to support the community. The overall mission is to celebrate diversity…of people, values, ideas and activities. There are 15 positions to be filled made up of directors from Yaletown as well as other various neighbourhoods of Vancouver. The main task of the board is to direct the implementation of the Roundhouse Community Arts & Recreation Centre’s Strategic Plan for fulfilling our Mission.

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE
Knowledge and skill in implementing a strategic plan is preferred
Experience in non-profit board work is an advantage
Genuine personal warmth

Conscientiousness
Committed to the work of the organization
Contribute specific expertise in a desired area such as communication, programming, finance, law, human resources, information technology, facilities, advocacy, or fund development

Promote the organization in the community

DELIVERABLES/DUTIES
Support:
Raising money
Advocacy
Acting as ambassadors to the community
Acting in at least one (1) Committee (1) a month; it being Communications, Facilities, Finance, Recruitment, Programming and/or others

GOVERNANCE
Protection of the public interest
Keeping the Roundhouse Community Arts & Recreation Centre on mission and on message
Writing policies
Keeping the bylaws up to date
Reviewing and authorising plans and commitments
Ensuring compliance with legal and contract requirements
Evaluating the Roundhouse Community Arts & Recreation Centre’s work

TIME COMMITMENT
Approx. 10 hours per month
