Roundhouse signs interim agreement to offer OneCard

Dear Roundhouse Community Members,

On June 26, 2013, the Roundhouse Community Arts and Recreation Society’s Board (Roundhouse Board) voted to accept the interim agreement proposed by the group of 12 Community Centre Associations (Group of 12) and the Vancouver Park Board. You can read the agreement here.

This interim agreement reflects changes to community centres’ memberships and access to civic recreation facilities through the new OneCard. The OneCard is intended to replace the patchwork of membership cards currently required to access Vancouver community centres and civic recreation facilities, and to register for programs. A multi-visit Flexipass is built into the OneCard, allowing residents to access community centres, recreation programs and services, fitness centres, rinks and pools across the city. The OneCard also replaces the Leisure Access Card. A 50 per cent subsidy for eligible programs will be available for persons in financial need who qualify. More details about the One Card here.

The only change impacting Roundhouse members is that they automatically become members of the Roundhouse Community Association at no charge when signing up for a Roundhouse program.

This interim agreement will be in effect until June 2014 or until our current joint operating agreement is replaced following ongoing negotiations with the Park Board, whichever comes first. The Roundhouse began accepting the OneCard on September 1st, 2013.

Other articles in the current joint operating agreement between the Roundhouse Community Arts and Recreation Society and the Park Board remain unchanged at this time. You can read the interim joint operating agreement here.

Please note that the Roundhouse does not have a fitness facility or pool. As a result, the only change impacting Roundhouse members is that no membership fee will be collected when signing up for a Roundhouse program.

Your Roundhouse Board welcomes your feedback on these new changes and is dedicated to ensuring that the Roundhouse remains a welcoming, accessible and innovative space for our community.
